Reports that the phones' batteries have combusted while charging or in normal use prompted the US Consumer Product Safety Commission to stop using the Note 7 device. The CPSC's warning comes one day after the FAA banned charging of the Note 7 on planes. Leading mobile handset manufacturer Samsung on Saturday said it will give top priority to consumer safety, following the Indian aviation regulator prohibiting the use or carriage of the Galaxy Note7 on board aircraft . The reason for the fire in the industrial zone of Tongi, 20km (12 miles) north of Dhaka, was not immediately known, but there was speculation it might have been caused by a boiler explosion. Machine operator Rubel Hossain was two minutes away from entering the factory when the blast occurred. This was the last work day at the factory before the start of the Muslim festival Eid al-Adha, which is set to begin on Tuesday in Bangladesh . (more...)
