WMUR-TV reports Eversource is trimming the trees to prevent power outages caused by limbs that have been weakened by ongoing drought conditions in the state. The U.S. Agriculture Department's drought monitoring service shows that all of CT is experiencing "abnormally dry" conditions. Rainfall for the year in many of those areas is running up to 4 inches below average, according to the drought monitoring service. (more...)

The statement also called on member states to "redouble their efforts" to implement the strongest sanctions ever to be given to North Korea on its fourth underground nuclear test in January and a long-range missile launch in February. Security Council tightened sanctions March 2 to punish it for conducting its fourth nuclear test and a long-range rocket launch earlier in the year.
