Some of the newly-uncovered coffins, which were colored and sealed, were displayed in a makeshift tent overlooking the Step pyramid of Djoser in the vast necropolis. X‐rays of the mummies allow close analysis of ancient skeletal structures, which hold clues as to how they have been preserved. Another discovery in the vast Saqqara necropolis is expected to be announced in December or early 2021. (more...)

The asymptomatic 23-year-old man is now in a quarantine facility after returning to the island last week from a "higher-risk" portion of the US earlier this month, USA Today reports . The man is now in quarantine in Port Vila. Meanwhile, Hong Kong and Singapore will establish an "air travel bubble" on 22 November, allowing travellers from the two cities to visit the other without having to quarantine, in a first step to stimulate tourism amid the pandemic. The U.N. migration agency renewed its call for increased search and rescue efforts after another tragic shipwreck in the Mediterranean Sea claimed the lives of 74 migrant men, women and children. "If they had come just a little later, we would have had 200 more deaths", says Maurice Stierl from the Alarm Phone initiative.
