The Free Patriotic Movement denounced in a statement on Saturday the US Treasury sanctions imposed on its leader and former minister Jebran Bassil. Hezbollah has been a close ally of the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) - founded by President Michel Aoun, Mr Bassil's father-in-law - since 2006, and has wielded significant power and influence as part of successive Lebanese ruling coalitions. Whole Foods reverses ban on staff wearing poppies after outcry

Whole Foods Market, the luxury grocery chain owned by Amazon.com Inc., has ignited a storm in normally placid Canada after telling staff there that they can't wear poppies to commemorate Remembrance Day. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau later called it a "silly mistake" and told reporters that he hopes "they will correct it very quickly". That's the message the Royal Canadian Legion wants people to remember when they pin a poppy to their chest in the days leading up to Remembrance Day. (more...)

For example, voters who arrive at the incorrect precinct on Election Day but still elect to vote at the wrong location would receive a provisional ballot. MI did eventually allow election officials to process some ballots one day earlier, but the counting of the ballots still had to wait until November 3. (more...)
