At 2 pm Friday, Changjiang Water Resources Commission under the Ministry of Water Resources raised the emergency response level for flood control along the Yangtze River to the second highest following the incessant downpours. More than 140 people are either dead or missing due to severe floods in several Chinese regions that have affected almost 38 million people, authorities in Beijing said on Sunday. (more...)
