Princess Cruises has been accused of knowing about outbreaks of Covid-19 during the past two voyages of the Ruby Princess cruise ship, according to a lawsuit filed in the United States. The action alleges the company was aware of a coronavirus outbreak on the ship but failed to take precautionary measures. In the lawsuit, it is claimed that the cruise line "recklessly" continued with the voyage despite an outbreak on an earlier cruise. (more...)

WFP chief economist Arif Husain said that the economic impact of the pandemic is a hammer blow for millions who can only eat if they earn a wage and called for large-scale support from worldwide community. The increase by more than 20 million people takes it to a record level in the four years the report has been compiled. In a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt, Pompeo said that Chinese authorities have barred the world's scientists from entering the laboratory to determine whether the deadly pathogen originated from there. He said that "it might be the U.S. army who brought the epidemic to Wuhan". Filippa Lentzos, biosecurity researcher at King's College London, said while there is now no proof for the lab accident theory, there is also "no real evidence" that the virus came from the wet market.
