The country's Civil Protection Agency had reported smaller daily figures earlier this week, prompting speculation among officials that Italy has "flattened the curb", meaning that the rate of infections has slowed. Last year, they sold it to Lordstown Motors Corp . GM said on Monday that work at its IN plant, which makes small electronic components for cars, is part of the effort to expand ventilator production. However, as the Times reports, "word suddenly came down that the announcement was off". Ventec is also ramping up its own production in its Washington state plant. (more...)

Included among those feeling ill are 53 passengers and 85 crew members. The Zaandam embarked from Buenos Aires in Argentina on 7 March with 1,243 passengers and 586 crew on board. (more...)

He has said that the social distancing measures might need to last as little as six weeks, but said that "we have no choice", despite the economic impacts. 'I've gone days without seeing any co-workers!' he said. Mr Gates did not name the president but he told TED, " it's very irresponsible for somebody to suggest that we can have the best of both worlds ". (more...)
