India hikes tariffs on US goods

The Indian Trade Ministry explained the government had extended repeatedly the deadline for set up the tariffs while negotiations were going on for nearly a year, The Hindu newspaper recalled. An order to raise import taxes as high as 120 percent on a number of American-made goods was issued by the Indian government in June 2018. However Trump's decision this month to strip New Delhi of its preferential trade status appears to have prompted the latest Indian move. (more...)

How ridiculous! I would never be trusted again. President Trump regularly tweets about the "fake news media", but it seems he's shared a bit of fake news himself with a recent royal blunder. Mr Trump met the Prince of Wales last week during his state visit to the United Kingdom - the tweet meanwhile was live on Twitter for about 25 minutes before a correctly spelled version of the post was issued. The accounts of the encounter provided by the family and police are conflicting. The filing from the family alleges that Ames was thrown against a vehicle and kicked so hard that he collapsed before a police officer "kept his knee between the father's legs". (more...)
