Nobel head says women are used as weapons of war

The Nobel Peace Prize for 2018 was awarded on Friday to Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad for their respective work against sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict. "Nearly 6,500 women and children from the Yazidi were abducted and about 5,000 people from the community were killed during that day", she said. Women in particular have suffered greatly as they have been, and continue to be the victims of sexual violence", she concluded. (more...)

She described her decision to oppose Kavanaugh as "agonizing", and said that while she hopes he will be a "neutral arbiter" on the court, he was not "the right person for the court at this time". Manchin says he has reservations because of the sexual misconduct accusations against Kavanaugh and the judge's temperament in denying them. His parents believe he used his near-professional level shredding skills on the envelope containing their hard-earned cash when they weren't paying close enough attention. He would not release the suspect's name or condition and other details were not immediately disclosed. West Florence High School was put on lockdown as a precaution and nearby roads were closed. Stevens said that while he initially believed Kavanaugh has the requisite intellectual ability to sit on the court, the nominee's partisan broadsides at a hearing investigating sexual assault allegations against him showed that he may not have the temperament to be on the court.
