Some 140 business leaders from around the globe on Monday announced or confirmed a total of 3.5 billion euros ($4.2 billion) in investments in France as part of a pro-business summit organized by President Emmanuel Macron. Macron added that Trump was "not a classical politician" and was "elected by his humoring people". Trump and Macron have developed a friendly relationship over the past year, though it got off to an unusual start. (more...)

Democrats backed off those demands on Monday and some backed a measure to keep the government open in exchange for a guarantee from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to take up immigration issues - including DACA - by early February. The companies have denied the allegations and said they are committed to working with communities to stem opioid abuse. A dense fog advisory was issued for New Haven, New London, Fairfield, Middlesex, Tolland and Hartford counties until 9 a.m. Once the fog clears, Monday will be partly sunny with a high near 77, according to the NWS, a welcomed warm day after a cold snap last week.
