In a statement from Rome , Cardinal Pell has maintained his innocence and is "looking forward to his day in court". Pell will be required to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on July 18 for a filing hearing. Police confirmed the Samaritan's account after talking with nearby witnesses who said they saw the man asking about the girl's parents. Three men found him walking with the girl and he ended up becoming the victim as he was punched. "I wanted to kill him".
