The language of origin was easy: gibberish. Here's a brief list of words the pair spelled correctly at the end of the Bee that in no way should make you feel really, really dumb. A 12-year-old Fresno , California has won the 90th Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday. This year, the spelling bee has a single victor for the first time since 2013, having had two kids sharing the title over the past three years. (more...)

A Downing Street spokesman said that Prime Minister Theresa May was "in contact with officials and is being regularly updated on the incident at London Bridge ". Saturday's incident came less than two weeks after the terror attack in Manchester, England, killed 23 people following a concert by American singer Ariana Grande. (more...)

The case also badly damaged the reputation of Joe Paterno , the revered head football coach, who was accused of knowing about allegations against Sandusky. The three former Penn State officials all apologized for their actions and to Sandusky's victims before the sentences were handed down. Paterno was sacked but never charged with a crime; he died of lung cancer at age 85 two months after Sanduskys arrest. (more...)
