The Indian Air Force on Friday ordered a court of inquiry into the crash, hours after the debris of the fighter plane was sighted, reported PTI. The black box of the aircraft has been recovered. The wreckage was spotted from air, and search teams reached the crash site Sunday only. The location is not accessible because of the dense forests and steep mountain slopes, and there is no mobile network coverage in the area, said Lt Col Suneet Newton, Guwahati-based Defence PRO. The end of the hunger strike comes on the eve of the Muslim observance of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of daily fasting which could have further endangered the health of the participants. While the stories of time spent overseas abound at ceremonies such as the one held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, they are accompanied by a solemn sense of loss and heartache for those who never returned home. About 30 people turned out to enjoy the fellowship of veterans and friends during the ceremony, hosted by the Mount Olive Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post 9959. (more...)
