Floyd and Brown were traveling down a public dirt road between the towns of Hardeeville and Tillman in Jasper County, S.C. on Wednesday when they saw the baby alligator crossing the road. The charge comes with a maximum fine of $300. They then released the alligator into a pond. There are federal protections in place to govern the harvesting of alligators for worldwide trade, but in this case, experts say no federal protection applies. (more...)

Met Office forecaster Emma Sharples said there was "a chance" of breaking the record. However clouds will then thicken then turn humid, with thunderstorms and torrential downpours possible overnight. Outbreaks of rain are then likely to soon spread, perhaps turning heavy at times, with thunder possible.
