The Associated Press reported Thursday morning that, according to a Republican member of the Senate Intelligence panel, Michael Flynn's lawyers said that Flynn will not obey a subpoena. So far, he said, the panel has interviewed "well over 30 individuals". How the Committee proceeds may depend both on how much cooperation it anticipates from the Department of Justice-which may depend in large part of whether the relevant official is Mueller or Rosenstein-and on its own calculation about ... The department said that between January and April, the CPI rose 4.3% from a year earlier and in monthly terms, April CPI, however, fell 0.3% from March. Dr Esmond Birnie, senior economist at the Ulster University's Economic Policy Centre, said lower fuel prices at the pumps and cheaper computer games had acted to reduce the upward pressure on inflation. That recharged the debate over whether Confederate emblems represent racism or an honorable heritage. But he insisted the statues must go. Until Thursday night, city officials had refused to detail specifics of plans for the Lee monument's removal, as was the case for the previous three statues. (more...)
