The rhetorical salvos came as US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson received an unusually hostile reception in Moscow , where any hope that the Trump administration would herald less confrontational relations was dashed in the week after the US missile strike on Syria. He said that under President Donald Trump, the US will stand up to its enemies with its allies. The U.S.is trying to ratchet up pressure on North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs. "But we're going to redouble our efforts to bring diplomatic and economic pressure to bear on North Korea". The officials weren't authorized to speak publicly on the results of the policy review and requested anonymity. (more...)
