Announcing the news first on Facebook, Mr Turnbull said the visa class would be replaced with a new temporary visa, "specifically created to recruit the best and brightest in the national interest". He said a new temporary visa would replace the 457 visa and have tougher requirements for applicants. The 457 visa, now used by about 95,000 foreign workers, will be replaced by a new temporary visa and the list of occupations that qualify for a visa will be reduced from more than 200. (more...)

Duterte will reportedly assist some 5,000 workers pardoned in the Middle East, and lobby groups have pushed the president to pursue unpaid wages by companies who laid off Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia. Bruce Ward and Don Davis's executions were scheduled to begin Monday at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. respectively. The drug has been used in flawed executions in Oklahoma and Arizona. He has said he's morally opposed to the death penalty and that his personal beliefs alone shouldn't disqualify him from taking up certain cases. The back-and-forth with the courts came as the state seeks to execute eight prisoners before its supply of the sedative midazolam expires at the end of the month. (more...)

Bryanna Reasonover told WZZM-TV that she found her son's body in a playpen when she went to pick up three children she had dropped off the previous night.
