As part of its tornado watch message, the Weather Service says scattered to numerous severe thunderstorms are expected today into tonight. Schools, churches and some businesses shut as a precaution. The StormTrack 12 weather team has declared a Severe Weather Alert Day for late Wednesday and early Thursday. Forecasters said a wide area of the South, including Alabama, Georgia and parts of SC were under the threat of powerful, long-lived tornadoes . (more...)

But at Wednesday's briefing Mantashe and his deputy Jessie Duarte said Zuma had consulted the ANC leadership and had told the party's top five in November previous year that he wanted to fire Gordhan over the "irretrievable breakdown" in their relationship.
