For civic areas with populations higher than 20,000, and stretches of highways that do not fall within municipal areas, the limit remains 500 metres. A North Korean missile launch on Tuesday was of a liquid-fuelled Scud missile which only travelled a fraction of it's range, U.S. officials said. Local Government Minister Anne Tolley said she understood that the operators of the dams had released some water over the past few days in anticipation of the high rainfall, but she didn't have the technical expertise to know if they had done enough. By deck height, Foresthill Bridge is the highest bridge in California and the fourth highest in the country. The woman was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Police closed the walkways under the bridge for the "protection of our residents and our community" and said any trespassers on the bridge would be cited. (more...)
