Since 2008, the annual adjustment has been above 2 percent only once, in 2011. Still, even that larger benefit, for someone who is receiving the maximum amount will grow by just $7.92 next year. Social Security announced other changes Tuesday. This 30 percent group includes high-income beneficiaries, new enrollees, enrollees not collecting Social Security benefits, and the millions of dually eligible beneficiaries whose Part B premiums are paid by state Medicaid programs. In the first consumer class-action suit to be filed over the troubled device, the Note 7 owners seek unspecified damages and an order requiring the company to fix, recall and/or replace the phones, and extend applicable warranties. Within the last few weeks, a Note 7 has burned the inside of a hotel room - causing more than £1,000 worth of damage - as well as incinerating the inside of a Jeep and bursting into flames inside one unlucky man's pocket. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) announced yesterday a ban on Samsung Galaxy Note 7 units not only in all aircraft but also in all airports nationwide. Both airlines are communicating the Note 7 ban on planes and at multiple airport locations. American Airlines Group Inc. said Tuesday that it will take any Note 7 phones discovered at airports and follow existing procedures for any hazardous material. (more...)

A United States defense official said there were multiple incoming surface-to-surface missiles detected, and the ships were not hit. The latest alleged attack was the third time in almost a week that the USS Mason and other U.S. It now appears the destroyer fired missiles at what may have been incoming missiles. It's unclear what the Ponce , a transport ship for ground troops, is doing there, but it too has apparently been off the Yemeni coast for weeks. (more...)
