Investigators later found the train had sped up to 21 miles per hour - twice the speed limit - right before impact. That's more than double the speed limit for the Hoboken Terminal. The train was also traveling with four cars, when it usually has five, according to the conductor. The crash revived questions about positive train control, a GPS-based system created to automatically slow or stop trains that are going too fast. (more...)
