I backed off. Steven fell through the door and I went back to sit back down again". In a furious statement he threatened to leave UKIP if the committee blocked Mr Woolfe's leadership bid. A photograph obtained by ITV News showed him spread-eagled and facedown, while an attendant leaned over him. Mr Gill said Mr Woolfe - who suffered two seizures - is now feeling much better and has emailed Mr Hookem in a gesture of friendship. (more...)

It was mostly a publicity stunt and a proof of concept, but it also called attention to the fact that most women in Poland have no safe, legal abortion options in practice. But activists say women are sometimes denied an abortion in such cases when a doctor invokes moral or religious objections. This afternoon, the Justice and Human Rights Committee of the Polish Sejm announced that it would throw out a proposed law which would have banned all abortion in Poland . (more...)
