The 4x100 relay gold medal is staying in the United States. Tori Bowie crosses the line to give the US women the gold medal in the 400-meter relay Friday. The Jamaican team containing Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was second in 41.36. Also in track and field Friday night will be the women's 5,000 meters. (more...)

Auriemma said, "How can you play any better in a tournament?" Auriemma had said from the start this group was on a mission that is now complete. Julian Brandt's fine curling effort came back off the bar, whilst Sven Bender also hit the woodwork from close range. With a passionate crowd behind them, Brazil took the game to their opponents and dominated possession and territory. But that edge never materialized for either side, and despite a couple of shots by Brazil in added time at the end of regulation, the score remained 1-1 - and stayed that way through two extra-time periods.
