D'Agostino suffered an ankle injury in the collision and faltered as a result but Hamblin deliberately hung back in the field to offer encouragement as the two women completed the race. D'Agostino released a statement Wednesday , detailing the incident that caused the injury, and saying what a positive experience the ordeal was despite the outcome. (more...)

Lydia Ko celebrates on the 18th hole after sinking a putt to claim the silver medal. It was her first career hole in one. Two strokes back to begin the final round, Lydia Ko's gold medal hopes were quickly dashed on Saturday when eventual Olympic champion Inbee Park began her day with three birdies in her first five holes and made the turn six strokes clear of the field. Some 23 seconds after Ledecky touched the wall, the last of the eight finalists finally got to the end of the grueling race. By Bentz's account , he and Lochte were returning to the Olympic Village in a taxi along with Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen around 6 a.m. on Sunday, when they pulled into a convenience store to use the restroom. We paid some money to compensate them for the torn poster, and returned to the Village in a different taxi. Still, neither he nor Lochte have extended an "I'm sorry" to the people of Rio. (more...)

Officers in Brazil are waiting to speak to Mr Hickey in relation to three specific charges surrounding scalping of tickets. Jared Tallent of Australia came in second while Japan's Hirooki Arai took the bronze medal. The race walker was leading the race for 30km and was a minute ahead of his opponents at one point of the race. Alex Wright, the third member of Team Ireland competing in the event, was forced to withdraw from the race. Diniz reportedly suffered from stomach problems, which, coupled with the heat and long distance, caused him to lose control of his bowel movement on the course. (more...)
