Apple conducted 756 assessments in 30 countries, with the number of first time assessments rose by 26 per cent, as the company expanded its supplier roster. "We're committed to raising the bar every year across our supply chain", Apple's COO, Jeff Williams, said in a release. Still, Apple says that the number of associated companies being graded as " low performers " - showing weak compliance with the tech giant's rules - decreased to 1 percent in 2017, down from 3 and 14 percent in 2016 ... Twitter funded the study but had no say in the outcome, according to the researchers. As it turned out, tweets containing false information were more novel-they contained new information that a Twitter user hadn't seen before-than those containing true information. (more...)

As we describe on the latest "Smashing Security" podcast, MoviePass is looking for ways to make money from film fans which go past simply selling them cheap seats at the cinema. It may also be possible to manage additional tracking by turning off location tracking on your phone and killing the app when not in use. "Our members will always have the option to choose the location-based services that are right for them today and in the future", Moviepass added. (more...)

"There were differences in what the two committees passed, a conference committee was therefore constituted to reconcile and harmonise the differences". The Egmont group, a global network of 154 Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs), had suspended Nigeria at its last general meeting in July 2017. Users have reported that " Pixel 2XL smartphone gives a battery warning of 30 percent by early evening now that previously had 50 percent battery saving at the same time of the day". The Android P preview is now available for Pixel , Pixel XL , Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL . This looks like a nice starting point, though, with Google rolling out several smaller changes that ought to help improve the Android user experience. (more...)

The Huawei P20 was recently seen in TENAA and the images show the vertical branding that can be seen on the new leak. The leak corroborates earlier reports that the Pro would have a third rear camera where its siblings would "only" have two. (more...)

The device will be coming with a Cat 9 modem and is expected to be the fastest LTE enabled laptop. It is equipped with a Qualcomm X16 modem, which is capable of receiving up to 20 bands of LTE service. (more...)
