HP expands laptop battery recall

Hewlett Packard has expanded a recall programme for faulty fire-hazard batteries, covering an estimated 101,000 customers in addition to those batteries it recalled in June previous year. Consumers should remove the recalled batteries from their laptops, and contact HP for a free replacement battery. The black batteries measure about 8 to 10.5 inches long, 2 inches wide and about 1 inch high. (more...)

Some scientists have suggested this ancient pummeling could have contributed to an explosion of biodiversity at the time, and new research suggests we've been getting hit by remnants of the cosmic crash ever since. By sifting through samples of rock from a river valley in Russian Federation that used to be seafloor, they managed to separate some. A massive asteroid collision in outer space created chunks of rock that have hurtled to Earth for the last 466 million years. (more...)

Tethys measures 660 miles (1,062 kilometers) across. In the image, the freezing moon "Tethys" is giving the vague impression of a space eyeball staring off into space. This view looks toward the leading side of Tethys. NASA notes that "a large impact not only created a crater known as Odysseus, but the rebound of the impact caused the mountainous peaks, named Scheria Montes, to form in the center of the crater". China International Travel Service Limited announced on Wednesday that it will end all business relations with a Japanese hotel chain which refused to remove books from its guest rooms denying the Nanjing Massacre took place. On Dec 13, 1937, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45), the Japanese invaders captured Nanjing. Japan's wartime occupation of Nanjing, and the resulting massacre is a highly contentious issue between the uneasy neighbours. (more...)

Trump injected uncertainty into Lockheed's main source of revenue, the F-35 Lightning II, tweeting that the program's costs were "out of control".
