Ambulance Victoria says paramedics are treating a number of people after they were hit by a auto. Astronomers at the University of New South Wales in Australia announced the finding of three rocky-type worlds orbiting Wolf 1061, a red dwarf star about 126 trillion kilometers (78.3 trillion miles), or 14 light years, from Earth. But if its too far, it will be too cold. That said, Kane said that if there's any life on the planet, it must be living under hostile conditions-similar to those of Venus-since it's on the inner edge of the habitable zone, relatively close to its star. Delhi: HC stays notification for minority schools

Under a 7 January notification, the Delhi government sought to allot seats for nursery admissions in private unaided schools built on public land based on the location of the school. The process for nursery admissions in over 1400 private schools began in the national capital on January 2 and is expected to end on January 31. It asked the Centre about its policy regarding private schools running on land allotted to them by government at concessional rates across the country. (more...)

In a separate analysis of global temperature data , scientists from the US space agency NASA also found 2016 to be the warmest on record . When we say that the Earth was 0.99 degrees Celsius warmer than the 20th century mean, we don't mean that every point on the globe was exactly 0.99 degrees hotter - some areas heat much more than others. NOAA found the Earth was 1.69 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than average while NASA found the global average was 1.78 degrees Fahrenheit warmer. Even though El Niño conditions in the picture for significant portions of 2015 and 2016, Schmidt says it only made minor contributions to overall global temperature changes. (more...)

The consumer price index advanced 1.5 percent in December from a year earlier, Statistics Canada reported Friday from Ottawa. Overall, prices were up in five of the eight major categories tracked by the federal agencies. Prices were down in two categories - food at -2.3 per cent and housing operations at -0.6 per cent - while clothing prices were unchanged.
