Relations between the two countries have soured in recent years, despite President Barack Obama starting his eight years in office by calling for a "reset" with one of the US' long-term rivals. Trump's team issued a statement saying Putin called to offer congratulations. It warned that Cabinet splits were delaying the Government's ability to agree a negotiating strategy, which may not be ready for six months - after Mrs May's deadline of March 2017 for the launch of withdrawal talks with the EU. It was unclear if it meant internal Deloitte or government audiences. The moon will be at its brightest this week because it is coming closer to the Earth along its elliptical orbit than at any time since January 1948.
