Spotify is writing massive amounts of junk data to storage drives

Unnecessarily writing and rewriting data to some types of computer hard drive can shorten their life. Spotify users have been complaining about this issue all over the web. While it's nice to enjoy hours and hours of streaming music, it's not so nice to suffer the early demise of a hard drive or SSD. The flaw, which affects Windows, Mac and Linux computers that have the Spotify app installed, occurs both when the Spotify app is running and when it isn't being used, according to users. (more...)

AT&T says that when Stream Saver launches, it'll send out messages letting customers know that it's on, so it sounds like Stream Saver will automatically be enabled for all eligible customers. As an optional feature that isn't limited to specific content partners, Stream Saver does not seem to raise the same questions about net neutrality that have caused T-Mobile's Binge On feature to be scrutinized by the FCC. Anti-Trump protesters have been on the streets since Wednesday when he was declared victor of the election. Undoing complex existing regulations, such as the Clean Power Plan , will be more hard, but a reconstituted Supreme Court will probably help President Trump when that plan inevitably comes before the court. Volvo spokesman Jim Nichols told Fortune that the automaker informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on October 28 about the voluntary recall to inspect the passenger seat buckle bolt. There have been no injuries or issues related to this issue, the company says. The recall was made for a precautionary measure. This recall is a big deal because Volvo has a new "Volvo Vision 2020" plan whereby in the year 2020 it hopes that not a single person is seriously injured or ... (more...)
