These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33 million that will be offered next spring. They are among the 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who are being recognized for their academic achievements. However, the signal was lost some time prior to landing, ESA said.
