US President Joe Biden has set a 200 million dose goal . The leaders of European Union member countries have confirmed strengthening export controls of COVID-19 vaccines manufactured within the bloc. Several European countries that had suspended using the vaccine over concerns it could cause blood clots have resumed administering it after the EU's drug regulator said the vaccine was safe. AstraZeneca had been counting on findings from a predominantly USA study of 32,000 people to help rebuild confidence in its shot, which is crucial to global efforts to end the coronavirus pandemic since it is cheap, easy to store and a pillar of the COVAX initiative aimed at bringing vaccines to low- and middle-income countries. Historic sections of the canal have been reopened in a bid to ease the bottleneck of backed up marine traffic. The 193-kilometre-long man-made passage connects the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. Julianne Cona, who was aboard the Maersk Denver directly behind the Ever Given , shared an image of the vessel on Instagram. Four people were killed in Cherokee County, north of Atlanta, around 5 p.m., and four women died in two shootings in Atlanta less than an hour later, authorities said. A second shooting was reported about 45 minutes later and 30 miles away at another business. Police found one woman dead there.
