Astronomers Find Six-Planet System in Perfect Orbital Harmony Astronomers Find Six-Planet System in Perfect Orbital Harmony
- April 22, 2020

With reference to our solar system, Pluto and Neptune have an nearly ideal orbital resonance of 2:3. The authors of the new study came across the rare star system using the SOPHIE spectrograph , an instrument of the Haute-Provence Observatory in France that was created to detect exoplanets. - April 21, 2020

While attractive to many, the Lyrids are actually pieces of space debris left over from the periodic Comet C/1861 G1 Thatcher , according to NASA . Meteor showers are typically named for the constellation where the meteors appear to stream from; that location is known as the radiant. You need no equipment to enjoy the show; the best tools for observing such showers are your own eyes. (more...)

Two Nasa astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut made a safe return from the International Space Station (ISS) on Friday to find a "different planet", one transformed by the coronavirus pandemic. The coronavirus pandemic, meanwhile, is likely to delay NASA's plans for another moon landing. With the space station crew now down to three, Hurley and Behnken will spend weeks, perhaps months, helping to maintain the orbiting lab. (more...)

However, experts predict that the meteor shower will peak by April 21st and April 22nd. However, an individual can still observe the meteors in a location away from the city lights, even around the given time. Karl Battams, from the Naval Research Lab in Washington DC, said that it is likely that Comet SWAN is in "outburst" mode. The Delta Aquariids will offer about 20 meteors an hour when that shower peaks July 29-30. (more...)

- April 19, 2020

NASA described it as "the most similar in size and estimated temperature to Earth" of the thousands of exoplanets discovered by Kepler. But Kepler-1649c is the most interesting candidate exoplanet yet. Although the existence of a third planet could not be determined, a Earth-like planet caught by Kepler was discovered. Recently, NASA has discovered a potentially habitable "Second Earth" that is eerily similar to our own. (more...)

NASA discovers Earth-like planet 300 light-years away; are aliens living there?
- April 17, 2020

Adding up the heat to this extraterrestrial hypothesis, NASA has discovered a planet very similar to the earth, and it is located more than 300 light-years away. Red dwarfs are extremely common in the galaxy (around three of every four stars in the Milky Way is a red dwarf), but they're prone to frequent temper tantrums in the form of powerful stellar bursts. The amount of starlight received by this planet from its "red dwarf" star is 75 percent of the amount of light Earth receives from the Sun. It's host star is a red dwarf, a type of relatively cool, old and small stellar object. The space agency also warned that Kepler-1649c's atmosphere remains a mystery and that size calculations may be disabled. He said that if the scientists had not overlooked the Robovetter's algorithm that mislabeled Kepler - 1649c as a false positive, they would have ... (more...)

Interstellar Comet Oumuamua's Destructive Origins Revealed By Astronomers
- April 15, 2020

Aside from being the first interstellar visitor, Oumuamua also has odd physical features not commonly seen in other comets. The researchers' thermal modeling showed that the surface of fragments resulting from the disruption of the initial body would melt at a very short distance from the star and recondense at greater distances, thereby forming a cohesive crust that would ensure the structural stability of the elongated shape.
