SpaceX Successfully Delivers 'Mighty Mice' To International Space Station
- December 11, 2019
The mice will help scientists on earth understand how to limit bone and muscle loss in space, a problem that's faced by anyone who stays in space for a prolonged period of time. Kelly, U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' (D-AZ) husband, has lead mission STS-134 as it delivered the Express Logistics Carrier-3 (ELC-3) and the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-2) to the International Space Station . China's Lunar Probe Lands Safely on Far Side of Moon
- December 09, 2019
That's inaccurate. The moon is tidally locked with the Earth, meaning one side is always facing us, but the side facing away from us still gets sunshine. Beijing is planning to send another lunar lander, Chang'e-5, later this year to collect samples and bring them back to Earth. If the moon was formed from the same material as the Earth as many lunar scientists believe, studying the South Pole-Aitken basin could provide insights into the early Earth, de Grijs said. (more...)

Giant planet around white dwarf gives glimpse into solar system's future
- December 05, 2019
An worldwide team used observational data from multiple telescopes and theoretical models to conclude that while the white dwarf star is ancient, it's five times hotter than our sun. The high-energy photons crammed inside the dead star are gradually blowing away the planet's atmosphere and while most of the gas escapes, some of it is pulled into a disc swirling into the star at a rate of 3000 tonnes per second .
