The orbit of Chandrayaan-2 around the Earth was raised for a third time on Monday at 3:12 pm to reach a highly elliptical orbit of 276 x 71792 km. Chandrayaan-2 comprising of the orbiter, the lander Vikram and rover Pragyan was launched by GSLV Mark III launch vehicle from Sriharikota on July 22. (more...)

The asteroid, about the size of a large boulder, only became visible a few days ago. The asteroid was one of four that flew by Earth Wednesday, although Asteroid 2019 OK was the closest and most significant. When 2019 OK came closer to our planet, it could have been spotted by anyone nearby with a pair of binoculars as a speck of light gently drifting across the sky, Brown wrote. (more...)

Both the Southern delta Aquariids and the alpha Capricornids will have peak showers late on Monday and during the early hours Tuesday. The meteor showers should be visible until late August. Here's everything you need to know to catch the spectacular celestial show. The National Science and Technology Council released a 20-page report on June 21 calling for improved asteroid detection, tracking and deflection. The asteroid, reassuringly designated 2019 OK, is not a threat to Earth right now. (more...)

Wednesday's attempted launch was originally set for 6:24 p.m. The first International Docking Adaptor was destroyed in 2015, when the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying it to the station disintegrated after takeoff. Once the ISS is done with the Dragon resupply ship, it will return to Earth with more than 3,300 pounds of cargo after a 4-week stay at the ISS. (more...)
