An investigation by NASA has uncovered that one of its former metals manufacturers, Sapa Profiles, falsified test results and provided it with faulty aluminum parts for nearly 20 years. They then would supply their false certifications to their shoppers-NASA included. SPI, a Norwegian company, has been fined $US46 million ($AU 65 million) after pleading guilty to the fraud charges. Discovered in 1998 by the LINEAR project, this asteroid was given the provisional designation 1998 SF36 and was officially named after the Japanese rocket scientist Hideo Itokawa. It was launched in May 2003 and landed on the asteroid on November 2005 to collect samples in the form of tiny grains. Johnson said that FEMA and NASA will be continuing to work together in conducting frequent exercises and this in turn helps them to work side by side and learn to meet their objectives and needs ... It is now before a Senate committee and faces a number of additional steps before it can become law. "This bill does not need a nip and tuck", he said. "It needs major reconstructive surgery or it needs to be put out to pasture". Kenney, a former federal Conservative cabinet minister, calls the bill the "No Pipelines Act" and wants it scrapped. A new report from the U.S. Justice Department reveals that a company by the name of Sapa Profiles (now Hydro Extrusion Portland) falsified tests to make their products appear to be, well, not total garbage. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO ) which had initially planned to launch the mission a year ago in April, confirmed that the all the modules for the mission would be ready in the next two months. The Lander is destined to touch down on September 6, 2019. The spacecraft might take 35 to 45 days to reach the Moon after the launch. "Subsequently, lander will separate from the orbiter and soft land at the predetermined site close to lunar South Pole", the statement added . (more...)

The black hole is gradually stripping material away from its partner star, which occasionally creates bright bursts of light. "Only in this case, the wobble is caused by Einstein's general theory of relativity", Miller-Jones said. A new study based on half of the century data is revealing that the second largest ice sheet is melting at an accelerating pace for the past several decades. Greenland's ice sheets contain enough water to raise global sea levels by 23 feet, research shows. The limited data available for this period - medium-quality satellite photos, aerial photos, ice cores and other observations - helped refine them. (more...)
