It turns out - as ABC News reported and some eagle-eyed tweeters noticed - it was wingsuit flyers, more specifically the Red Bull Air Force , the company confirmed to EW. It became clear from social media that not everyone got the memo. Traveling three feet forward for every one foot down, the daredevils' southwestern one-mile flight took them into downtown, where they soared through skyscrapers, including the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown hotel, the tallest building west of ... Forecasters warn of 'potentially historic' flooding in the South

The town of roughly 220 people began flooding after a levee breach, with several homes inundated with water. Authorities said they had rescued almost 300 people in Nebraska alone, with some rivers continuing to rise. Water was filling a casino parking lot in the city, though only about half a dozen homes in the city aren't protected by a federal levee. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, in a series of tweets , confirmed that the space company will begin testing the early prototype of it Mars hopper Starship starting the week of 18 March. When asked where the vehicle known as Starship and Super Heavy would launch from, Musk said both Texas and Florida would host liftoff and assembly operations. (more...)

An autopsy on a whale that was found dead on a beach in Hualien last Friday revealed a large amount of plastic in its stomach and it was also found to be pregnant, two ocean conservation organizations said Wednesday. One of the biologists stated that the amount of plastic in the stomach of the animal they meet for the first time. This week will start out with clear skies, more record-breaking temperatures and a super full moon, so it could be a stellar week for sky-gazing evenings in the Puget Sound region. 2019 saw three supermoons , and they fell within the first three months of the year. Higher-than-normal tides and some coastal flooding also are frequent concerns during a perigee moon. (more...)

Scientists only recently pinpointed the blast - the third-largest known meteor explosion - by triangulating readings from infrasound stations, which pick up low-frequency noises that humans can't hear, New Scientist says. "That's another thing we have in our defense, there's plenty of water on the planet", Fast said. NASA researchers have also contacted airlines to see if they've spotted the giant blast. (more...)

JAXA, Toyota to develop manned lunar rover

Toyota and JAXA plan to use the moon rover to explore the surface of the moon. It would be almost 20 feet (6 meters) long, a little over 17 feet (5.2 m) wide, and 12 and a half feet (3.8 m) tall. The rover will use solar arrays and fuel cells to generate and store power. Toyota is looking to put a fuel cell-powered rover on the moon. For electrification, fuel cell batteries represent an indispensable technology. (more...)

Students will start to gather at City Hall at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and talks will begin at 11 a.m. Portland Public Schools sent out a letter to parents Thursday afternoon reminding them that any students who walk out will be marked absent. But skipping school has consequences, even when it's for a good cause. The safety of MPs is being called into question, but they say their level of accessibility is important. (more...)
