A lull in the hurricane season could come to an end this weekend as a tropical wave and low pressure system off Africa swirl into a tropical depression. This movement now includes a potential tropical cyclone exiting the Western African coast. Most of the reliable computer models suggest the storm will intensify as it moves WNW over the next couple of days. (more...)

EDT Wednesday. It was traced to a hole about 2mm across, located in the most recent Russian Soyuz spacecraft capsule to dock at the space station. NASA Flight Engineers Ricky Arnold and Serena Auñón-Chancellor are also on the space station, along with Alexander Gerst of ESA and Oleg Artemyev and Sergey Prokopyev of Roscosmos. (more...)

It eliminates money-based bail as an option for someone to be released from jail awaiting trial. California will no longer have a bail system for suspects awaiting trial beginning next year, after Democratic Gov. "They took our rallying cry of ending money bail and used it against us to further threaten and criminalize and jail our loved ones". It felt like it was 106 degrees with humidity at the Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, Illinois on Sunday , as the temperature tied a record high of 93 degrees, ABC News reported. Lane is expected to turn west later in the day, which would lessen the threat to the islands. A tropical storm south of Honolulu continues to wreak havoc at sea and on land across Hawaii. It has lashed Hawaii's Big Island with almost 20 inches (50 centimeters) of rain in about 24 hours. With Tropical Storm Lane fizzling out and heading west, Hawaii residents breathed a sigh of relief that a direct hit from the once major hurricane did not take place. (more...)

The full extent of the damage would only be known until next spring when the animals come out of hibernation. The now Category 3 storm's westward motion is expected to continue through early Tuesday, however, a turn toward the west-northwest is expected to start late Tuesday. A High Surf Advisory for E facing shores of Maui and the Big Island is now in effect. Forecasters said it was still uncertain whether the eye of the powerful hurricane would hit land in the USA island chain, whose Big Island is reeling from a three-month eruption of Kilauea volcano. The National Weather Service issues rare hurricane watches and warnings for parts of the Hawaiian Islands ahead of impacts from Hurricane Lane set to hit later this week. But the hurricane centre said the storm will move very close to or over the islands between Thursday and Saturday.
