French farmers to stage refinery blockade to protest palm oil imports
- June 13, 2018
On Sunday evening, French farmers launched blockades of the country's 14 refineries to protest imports of low cost palm oil for manufacturing biofuel. "Our target is the state", Lambert said, adding that Total's decision on palm oil was "the last straw". Total argues that its refining plan involves less palm oil than allowed by the authorities, offers an outlet for local rapeseed and will develop large-scale recycling of used oil and fat. (more...)

ISRO’s PRL scientists discover an ‘EPIC’ planet
- June 11, 2018
The team found the planet to be smaller in size than Saturn and bigger than Neptune. These planets are orbiting around the star every 5.2, 7.8 and 10.1 days. Its surface is around 600 degree Celsius and is very close to the host star. While we're not expecting to travel to Earth-like planets anytime soon, scientists are still preoccupied with finding them, if only to see that we're potentially not alone in the universe. (more...)

Preserved Organic Matter Found by Mars Curiosity Rover
- June 10, 2018
In the mudstone that formed billions of years ago at the bottom of a lake, Curiosity discovered organic molecules, including thiophenes, benzene, toluene, and small carbon chains like propane or butane. However, scientists need more evidences and observations to draw any conclusions as it is premature to know how the compounds were created in the biological process. (more...)

This artist's concept of lightning distribution in Jupiter's northern hemisphere incorporates a JunoCam image with artistic embellishments. Lightning on Jupiter has always been something of a mystery. At the poles of the planet warm gases rise freely, whereby the storm. Jupiter, on the other hand, receives 25 times less sunlight than the Earth and derives most of its heat from within the planet. (more...)
