The dollar , which went as high as 115.195 yen earlier this week, last stood at 113.420. The iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology ETF (IBB), off 1.4%, helped to drag the tech-laden index lower. The greenback was also sharply down elsewhere, with the Australian dollar surging 1.5 percent, South Korea's won one percent higher and the Mexican peso soaring 2.2 percent. (more...)

Yep, that's a new one, with Microsoft taking the first step towards discouraging the use of AMD and Intel's latest hardware on the company's older platforms of Windows 7 and 8.1. Kevin Lensing, corporate VP of the Client Business Unit of AMD, said , "We couldn't be more proud and happy with the launch of Ryzen 7". Windows 7's mainstream support ended in 2015; its extended support expires in 2020, and would apply only to critical security updates. (more...)

Trump met on the sidelines of his visit to MI with EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt , who the Sierra Club accused of violating the EPA's scientific integrity policy in "multiple ways". An order from the EPA under Obama said methane is among the more prevalent greenhouse gases emitted in the United States and almost 30 percent of those emissions come from oil and natural gas production. Under the Trump proposal, the budget for the State Department and the Agency for International Development would be cut by 28%, percentage-wise a reduction second only to the Environmental Protection Agency. that there be access for the media". The State Department held no press briefings from January 20-March 7. If the U.S.is going to be involved in fewer conflicts, that is an argument for reducing the current military budget and increasing funding for the parts of the government responsible ... (more...)

Traders are shipping competitively priced crudes such as Russian Urals, Kazakhstan's CPC Blend, North Sea Forties and U.S. West Texas Intermediate to replace Middle East staples from Oman to Abu Dhabi. Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed U.S. crude stocks fell last week, the first weekly decline after nine consecutive increases. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, border patrol agents reported seeing 10 people walking in the desert. Agents also observed a small child standing alone in the same area on a patrol road on the US side. Agents securing the vehicles noticed the truck and trailer contained bundles of marijuana. El Centro Sector Border Patrol seized an ultralight aircraft on Monday that made a cross-border "incursion" from Mexico and landed in Southern California. (more...)
