Standalone profit for the December quarter was up 10 per cent at Rs 8,022 crore. Reliance Jio, which earlier said it invested $20 billion in telecom networks and spectrum, will make an additional investment of Rs 30,000 crore or $441 million to enhance its 4G network's coverage and capacity in the country. GM general counsel Craig Glidden said on Monday that any investment that would be announced from his company would be because it was planned since a long time. Mistry's legal team argued that the decision to call the EGM (on Feb 6) was against the spirit of the December 22 order, which meant to avoid multiplicity of proceedings and unnecessary delays. Singhvi also explained the reason behind the urgency to remove Mistry from Tata Sons board. Following Mistry's removal from the chairmanship of Tata Sons on October 24, the two sides have been involved in a bitter battle that started in the board room but is now out in the courts. (more...)

Under the agreement, OPEC, Russia, and other non-OPEC producers have pledged to cut oil output by almost 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd), initially for six months, in order to bring supplies back in line with consumption. "You put on your shoulders the task of achieving market stability", said Barkindo. Kuwait is chairing a monitoring committee that will oversee OPEC's cut implementation. (more...)

The Airbus CEO at the DLD digital tech conference in Munich today. Airbus recently formed a division to research the idea and other mobility technology, known as Urban Air Mobility . While on-demand self-flying cars sound like a pipedream, Enders said the technology would be beneficial in the long term as it would mean city infrastructure planners "don't need to pour billions into concrete bridges and roads". The proposed DPA is subject to final judicial approval and the SFO and Rolls-Royce will appear at court on January 17 to seek this approval. The firm has agreed to make payments to the DoJ totalling 169 million United States dollars (£140 million) and to the MPF totalling 25.6 million USA dollars (£21.2 million). (more...)
