A BA statement released on Friday said most flights from Heathrow would operate as normal but some would be "merged". Passengers affected by Heathrow flight cancellations will be notified and offered alternatives, the airline said. The dispute centres on claims, denied by the airline, that 2,500 workers employed in the mixed fleet net lower pay than other BA crew. A spokesman said the New Albany, Ohio-based chain operated about 250 retail stores in 2016 and that about 4,000 jobs, including seasonal and temporary ones, would be lost. The Associated Press is reporting more grim news for national retailers. The closures follow recent announcements by Macy's and Sears that they will be closing more stores nationwide as department stores struggle in the face of growing online shopping. (more...)
