Last week's referendum result has made life even more challenging for the banking sector, after the country voted against Prime Minister Matteo Renzi's proposed constitutional reforms and he resigned. Following the acquisition, France headquartered Amundi intends to form a long term strategic partnership with Pioneer's parent company UniCredit for the distribution of asset management products. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2017 subject to regulatory and anti-trust approvals. Credit Agricole will underwrite that rights issue, and Credit Agricole added that the Pioneer deal was expected to boost its earnings per share by more than five percent. (more...)

The Pentagon plans to buy more than 2,400 planes to replace many of its combat jets, but they are entering service years late and costs doubled to nearly $400 billion because of design and production problems. Redstones Withdraw Support For Viacom-CBS Merger

Shari Redstone, the daughter of National Amusements chairman Sumner Redstone, squeezed longtime Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman out of the company over the summer. Then the Redstones sent a letter to both Viacom and CBS in September asking them to consider a merger. Redstone now wants Viacom to remain an independent company, and a letter from her National Amusements is expected to be released shortly, according to sources on both sides of the proposed deal. Breakthrough Energy Ventures said its fund had a longer lifespan than many other funds. The fund is part of the Breakthrough Energy Coalition that was launched by Bill Gates past year in December. But Rivers also threw three interceptions and fumbled twice. Already up 3-0, the Panthers extended the lead to 10-0 on a one-yard TD run. When children ask the toys a question, the words are recorded and converted to text so answers can be retrieved from Google, Wikipedia and Weather Underground. (more...)
