Economists had forecast payrolls rising by 175,000 last month and the unemployment rate remaining unchanged at 4.9 percent. Average hourly earnings fell three cents, or 0.1 percent, after shooting up 0.4 percent in October. This was unexpected, given that the tight labor market - characterized by a record number of job openings and fewer job seekers - put some upward pressure on wages in recent months. (more...)

Average hourly earnings are forecast increasing by 0.2 percent after shooting up 0.4 percent in October. The economy is near "full employment". For a year now, Fed officials have said they expect job growth to slow as the economy nears full employment. (more...)

Oklahoma-based oil and natural gas stock prices surged to 52-week highs Thursday after the market received back-to-back days of bullish news for commodity prices. Prices rose 12 percent this week, the most since February 2011. "If no deal is reached, our expectation of rising (crude) inventories through 1H 2017 would warrant prices averaging $45 per barrel through next summer", Goldman said, noting a move to below $40 per barrel would be hard to sustain.
