Sydney based Boral Ltd Acquires the USA firm Headwaters for $1.8 Billion

Boral will pay around $US2.6 billion ($A3.5 billion) to buy USA company Headwaters Incorporated, saying the move will more than double its U.S. business and help accelerate development of its light building products platform. In compensation for the premium valuation, Boral estimates the deal with be low-double-digit earnings per share accretive at the end of its first full year of ownership. (more...)

This year's increase in Thanksgiving travel is spurred by improvements in the economy during the second half of the year, including rising wages, increased consumer spending and overall strength in consumer confidence. While 3.6 million people are expected to fly only a slight increase in the number of travelers are expected to go by cruise, train or bus. Of that number, 89 percent will go by auto and enjoy the cheapest gas prices since Thanksgiving 2008, despite a recent 23-cent-per-gallon ... (more...)

The Morton County Sheriff's Office described the clash as a "riot" prompted by "very aggressive" activists, while protesters said authorities used tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannon in below-freezing temperatures. The attorney filing the lawsuit claims that hundreds of homes suffered some degree of damage, and the properties have lost value as a result of all this seismic activity. Two oil companies, Eagle Road Oil and Cummings Oil Company, were named in the suit, but 25 more unnamed companies were also referenced. The lawsuit claims 52 more have hit the area since. (more...)

Warren invited Dave Archambault, the chairman of the Standing Rock tribe, to a bilateral meeting in order to address fears of the destruction of tribal history and the jeopardization of water resources. Details of the two election protests weren't available. The McCrory campaign's complaints were also rejected by elections boards in Wake and Halifax counties. Since the allegations surfaced, the McCrory campaign filed protests calling to investigate absentee ballots in 11 other counties where the NCDP donated to similar PACs. (more...)

Brent crude oil was up 80 cents a barrel at $47.43 by 1255 GMT (6:25 p.m.in India). A stronger dollar makes oil, which is priced in dollars, more expensive to buyers using other currencies. Crude oil traded near $46 a barrel as Saudi Arabia and some other Opec nations meet with Russian Federation for informal talks without oil ministers from Iran and Iraq , the two countries that pose the biggest hurdle to an output deal.
