When third-party candidates are included, Trump picks up 1 point with independents while Clinton drops to 37 per cent, with Libertarian Gary Johnson taking 9 per cent and the Green Party's Jill Stein getting 5 per cent. US government yields were fueled further by upbeat jobless claims data, and were last at 1.85 percent. The dollar added 0.1 percent to 104.61 yen, moving back toward this week's high of 104.87 yen touched on Tuesday, its highest level since late July. (more...)

Last week, Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff confirmed it was backing away from a deal because "it wasn't the right fit for us". According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the throttle on the train went from idle to the fourth position, about half-power, 38 seconds before impact, and the speed increased to 21 miles per hour. The conductor did not report any unusual behavior and said preparations for that morning's departure were normal. In fact, he said it was so crowded he couldn't go around and collect fares. (more...)
