World Bank raises 2017 crude oil prices' forecast to $55 per barrel

The World Bank raised its crude oil price forecast for 2017 to $55 per barrel (bbl) on October 20 from $53/bbl because it expects an output agreement among OPEC to help trim excess supply. Late Tuesday, the American Petroleum Institute, an industry group, said inventories fell by 3.8 million barrels. "What we see now is somewhat consolidating in a wait-and-see mood", said Frank Klumpp, oil analyst at Stuttgart-based Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg. (more...)

Officers say she was last seen at 345 Eldert Street near Irving Avenue in Bushwick. An NYPD spokesperson told Gothamist there have not been any new developments and the investigation is ongoing. It has been reported that, under special arrangements, ministers opposed to Heathrow's expansion will be allowed to express their "personal views" on the matter for a limited period. In 2009, former prime minister David Cameron pledged that there would be no new runway at Heathrow. Her plan means that ministers such as Boris Johnson and Justine Greening will be able publicly to restate their concerns about the impact a bigger, busier Heathrow will have on people in west London. Oil prices rallied on Wednesday, with USA crude settling at a 15-month high after the EIA said US oil inventories fell by 5.2 million barrels last week. U.S. crude oil production has fallen nearly 12 per cent since peaks in 2015, to around 8.5 million barrels per day. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said crude stocks fell 5.2 million barrels in the week ended October 14, versus forecasts for a 2.7-million barrel build. (more...)

This year's 5 percent number for September was nearly the same as the month before, when the August rate was 4.9 percent. But numerous jobs added in last month are likely other education-related jobs, Weaver said. Nonfarm employment rose by 9,700 jobs in September, with strong gains across most key industry categories. Payroll employment estimates indicate over-the-month job growth of 2,400 jobs, with increases across almost all sectors and strong gains in the leisure activities industry. (more...)

Oil prices rose to their highest level in several months after Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday that his country, not a member of the cartel, was ready to align with OPEC's push to limit oil output. The IEA forecast that the market will remain oversupplied through mid-2017 if OPEC doesn't enact the cuts it pledged last month in Algeria. " Higher production from Libya, Nigeria and Iraq are reducing the odds of such a deal rebalancing the oil market in 2017 ", the bank said. (more...)

Some traders think the US government will report a weekly rise in crude inventories next week to counter the surprise draw in this week's report that drove WTI prices to July 2015 highs. OPEC top producer Saudi Arabia's energy minister Khalid al-Falih said on Wednesday that oil markets were at the end of a considerable downturn as fundamentals were improving and supply and demand were rebalancing. In tragic circumstances, a passenger train derailed in Cameroon yesterday with 1,300 people om board. After the accident, people are being rescued from the carriages strewn across adjacent rail tracks. State officials said the 30-year-old railway line and train could not carry the unusually heavy load. The train, crammed with people due to road traffic disruption between the two cities, left the tracks just before reaching the central city of Eseka, Transport minister Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o ... More and more businesses are reporting they are having difficulty finding and retaining the skilled workers they need, which is pushing wages higher and pulling job seekers back into the labor market.
