Tesla shares closed up 2.8 percent at $229.77 on Thursday on the Nasdaq ahead of the Model 3's public debut. With the Model 3 costing around half the base price of the larger Model S at around £24,500, it represents a significant chance for a greater amount of buyers to enter the electric auto market. Musk says Model 3 cars will start delivery to customers in late 2017. After rallying higher 27.6% over the past month in anticipation of the Model 3 reveal, investors have sent the shares up around 6.89% to $245.60 in early action today. (more...)

"Impact in 6 sec if engine doesn't restart & ramp fast", Bezos said in another tweet Friday, referring to the New Shepard's BE-3 engine. It will be second attempt on 2016 and third in the history of New Shepard. Sign me up! I'd jump at the chance for a space ride with Blue Origin and be the envy of my friends! Tesla now has 3,600 supercharging facilities in US and plans to increase the number to 7,200 by the time deliveries of the Model 3 commence. For starters, the front of the vehicle houses a "frunk", that's a front trunk that is huge enough to accommodate a travel luggage. (more...)

People sit at computers where they can reserve one of the cars before Tesla Motors unveils the Model 3 at the Tesla Motors design studio Thursday, March 31, 2016, in Hawthorne, Calif. As a comparison, Toyota sold around 200,000 Prius models a year ago. The reserving price for India is the same - US$1,000 (INR 66,510). But Tesla and Panasonic are building a massive, $5 billion factory in Nevada which will supply batteries for the Model 3. (more...)

The boards of Orange and Bouygues SA held meetings which lasted more than 4 hours on Wednesday evening however both boards noted that there are still some outstanding issues. Orange ORAN.PA and Bouygues BOUY.PA have given themselves until Sunday to thrash out a possible deal for France's dominant telecom operator to buy Bouygues Telecom, citing a lack of progress ahead of a Thursday deadline. This design challenge has been tackled many times before by rear-engine (especially air-cooled) vehicle makers, and the Model 3 has, I think, an uncanny resemblance to a modernized Renault Caravelle, which had its engine in the rear. Lelen mentioned the Tesla would be flawless to shuttle around grandchildren. Pre-orders of the Model 3 have already started - but production won't begin until late 2017, when Tesla will begin making 500,000 vehicles a year. (more...)

MDEQ Director Keith Creagh says that the agency is taking a number of steps to remedy the problems in Flint, including water testing in schools and collaboration with city and federal partners.
