Uber unveils app just for food delivery

The app is available for iOS and Android devices. Uber launched a standalone app for its food delivery service UberEATS , as it plans to expand the program to several more cities. The service is also being offered in Houston , LA, and San Francisco , and is expected to roll out to New York, DC and other cities soon. Restaurant partnerships could help Uber Eats avoid some of the logistical challenges other services have faced, such as influxes of orders that overwhelm local ... (more...)

The national unemployment rate fell to 4.9 percent in January, down from 5 percent in December. The department says total nonfarm payroll employment contracted by 1,800 jobs between January 2016 and January 2015. The retail sector fared better than expected during the holiday season - adding about 1,400 jobs. (more...)

Puerto Rico's Health Department is reporting 201 confirmed Zika cases amid warnings the US territory could face an epidemic of the mosquito-borne virus. Since this is a time of year when people travel to warmer climates and countries where Zika virus is found, the OCHD is urging residents, especially pregnant women, to take preventive measures when traveling in affected countries and check health travel advisories. Clinton hasn't generated enthusiasm among young voters - Sanders has - but Trump's support significantly lags even McCain. This CNN Democratic town hall from OH could not have gone worse for the Republican Party. Trump said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union" that he's not sweating his GOP rivals. Though Sanders has been scoring some points on trade, Clinton has so far built a more diverse constituency resting especially on African-American voters and Hispanics and appears to have ... Even though the FBI's case with Apple is very important, many in law enforcement think that's what's happening with "WhatsApp" is of far greater concern. That is the company that devised the encryption system employed by WhatsApp. As encryption becomes more and more mainstream across the apps and devices, the struggle for investigating agencies will be in getting access to the information. The Nasdaq Composite index .IXIC was up 6.21 points, or 0.13 percent, at 4,723.23. At 8:31 a.m. ET (1331 GMT), Dow e-minis were down 42 points, or 0.25 percent, with 22,675 contracts changing hands. "For the S&P 500 to move higher we need to start seeing better earnings growth, which may not come until second and third quarters", she said. Those advances stemmed in part from gains for oil prices, which rose almost 10% last week. (more...)

The chief executive, who would stand down in the event of a merger with Deutsche Boerse, has been in charge of LSE Group since May 2009, having worked previously for USA investment bank Lehman Brothers.
