Shimon Peres died Wednesday morning in his sleep in hospital of complications from a stroke that had struck on September 13, the anniversary of the Oslo accords. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said Thursday that officers will also monitor social media for potential attackers. Peres gained global recognition for his Nobel prize, and late in life, became a virtual celebrity as he traveled around the globe preaching a message of peace and coexistence. (more...)

The politicians' remarks indicate a reluctance among politicians to back a group disliked by many Germans because of its pursuit of investment banking overseas that resulted in billions of euro of penalties for wrongdoing.
