United States stocks extend gains as Nasdaq rallies to record high

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 98.76 points, or 0.5 percent, to 18,392.46. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 11 points, or 0.5 percent, to 2,174. As the above graph shows, gold prices have a negative correlation with real interest rates. In updated forecasts, the Fed lowered its expectation for the long-range level of its benchmark interest rate to 2.9 percent, from the 3 percent it had forecast in June and 3.5 percent before then. BANK OF JAPAN: The Japanese central bank said it will hold its short-term policy rate at negative 0.1 per cent and might cut it further. According to a MarketWatch report , Germany's largest lender began negotiations with the DOJ yesterday regarding allegations of seriously problematic RMBS issuance and underwriting between 2005 and 2007. At the current figure, the fine facing Deutsche Bank it is one of the largest penalties handed out by USA authorities in the aftermath of the financial crisis. (more...)

The U.S. The American Petroleum Institute (API) reported a build of 1.4 million barrels in U.S. crude oil inventories, for the week ended September 9. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 13 points, or 0.6 percent, to 2,175 and the Nasdaq composite rose 37 points, or 0.7 percent, to 5,332. In March, the number fell to two before it was whittled down to one. Those currencies also benefited from risk-on sentiment bolstered by the Fed's apparent lower interest rate path, analysts said. The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has granted permission to Boeing and Airbus to export commercial aircraft to Iran, the Associated Press said. He added that Iran would buy 111 planes from Airbus through a finance scheme of below $10 billion, and that a financer would make nearly all the payments relating to the purchase. (more...)

Yahoo's CISO said that the company has already notified all potentially affected users and asked them to change their passwords. " Yahoo is working closely with law enforcement on this matter", Lord said. But Yahoo only recently discovered the break-in as part of an ongoing internal investigation. (more...)

The commission conducts the exam to select candidates to fill administrative positions in all-India services and central civil services, including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and others.
